Current Issue:Volume 177, Issue 2Volume 177, Issue 1Volume 176, Issue 4Volume 176, Issue 3Volume 176, Issue 2Prompted by the occasion of the
conference held at the University of Hawaii at
Mānoa campus from 7 to 11 July 2014, we have selected a set of
fourteen papers published in Botanical Journal of the Linnean
Society and Journal of Biogeography illustrating the
breadth and vitality of recent advances in island biogeography. The
subject matter spans ecological networks within islands,
macroecological patterns of species richness, biogeographical and
evolutionary structure across archipelagos, and long-term
reconstructions of island environments and how their dynamics
interplay with their evolutionary biogeography.

Dr. Elena Groppo, Dr. Erik Gallo, Dr. Kalaivani Seenivasan, Kirill A. Lomachenko, Dr. Anna Sommazzi, Prof. Silvia Bordiga, Dr. Pieter Glatzel, Dr. Roelof van Silfhout, Anton Kachatkou, Dr. Wim Bras and Prof. Carlo LambertiArticle first published online: 24 FEB 2015 | DOI: 10.1002/cctc.Shedding light on the active site: The local structure and electronic properties of the active Ti sites in heterogeneous Ziegler&Natta catalysts, generated in situ by interaction of the precatalyst with different aluminum-alkyl activators, is investigated by X-ray absorption and valence-to-core X-ray emission spectroscopy (XAS and vtc-XES). The active system is a highly dispersed TiCl3-like phase in which the Ti sites are surrounded by bridged chlorine ligands and terminal chlorine ligands. S. Schlager, Dr.  H. Neugebauer, M. Haberbauer, G. Hinterberger and Prof. Dr. N. S. SariciftciArticle first published online: 20 FEB 2015 | DOI: 10.1002/cctc.Bioelectrocatalysis for butanol: The direct electrochemical addressing of immobilized alcohol dehydrogenase for the reduction of butyraldehyde to butanol without consumption of NADH is reported. The selective reduction of butyraldehyde to butanol occurs at room temperature, ambient pressure, and neutral pH. Dr. Di Lang, Tingting Shen and Dr. Quanjun XiangArticle first published online: 18 FEB 2015 | DOI: 10.1002/cctc.Right on the edge: The optimized ternary CdS&MoS2&graphene nanocomposites with a layered MoS2/graphene cocatalyst exhibits high visible-light H2 production activity and 54.4&% quantum efficiency without the presence of a noble-metal cocatalyst. Prof. Minkee Choi, Sunwoo Yook and Prof. Hyungjun KimArticle first published online: 18 FEB 2015 | DOI: 10.1002/cctc.Hydrogen Spillover: Encapsulated metal catalysts not only provide ideal model systems for studying fundamental aspects of hydrogen spillover, but also can be used for designing advanced hydroprocessing catalysts with enhanced activity, distinct chemoselectivity, and improved catalyst durability. Dr. Laura Torrente-Murciano, Thomas Villager and Prof. David ChadwickArticle first published online: 18 FEB 2015 | DOI: 10.1002/cctc.In the mix for selective oxidation: In situ formation and utilisation of intermediate oxidising species from O2/H2 mixtures in a tandem-type system minimises the parallel decomposition of hydrogen peroxide with 100&% selectivity to the aldehyde product.
